Tasty Family Brunch in Spring

Ely Gastropub in Hanover Quay was the place we chose for a family brunch (our girls are 7 and 5) on Saturday. Initial greeting - we were welcomed with a warm smile by the manager. He gave us options to sit in the front of the restaurant, which was bright and airy on one of those rare sunny Spring days. Service/Order Taking - the manager took our initial order and then various staff dealt with us in the course of our meal. Everyone was attentive and pleasant and willing to be of help. There was a slight bit of confusion between them in terms of what we had ordered but it didn’t make any difference in the overall meal. Food – both adults had versions of the duck eggs (I had the Benedict and he had the Royale) which were both absolutely delicious. We both also had a cup of the broccoli and blue cheese soup. The bread was fresh and home-made. The girls had the fish and chips which went down extremely well . The presentation was really cute and the portion size perfect for them. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate souffle which we all ate and which was melt in the mouth and memorable. Drinks – the adults had a bottle of sparkling water and followed our meal with two very good coffees (with very nice chocolate on the side). The girls had Shirley Temples, which they thought were amazing. The portion size was a bit big for their age, so they perhaps could have shared one between two in sugar rush terms? But there were no complaints at all and they polished them off! Overall - a really good experience which gave tasty food of an extremely high standard and warm and attentive service.
