The English Market, Cork
Against the backdrop of Ireland's oldest, most historic and colourful food market, Farmgate Café embraces a simple, strongly regional menu: Freshly shucked oysters are brought straight to the table from O’Connell’s fish stall downstairs; Irish Lamb Stew, freshly baked Savoury Tarts and Market Fish Pie are served alongside local Cork dishes such as Tripe & Drisheen, Poached leg of Mutton, and Corned Beef with parsley sauce - putting centuries old traditional, seasonal, even 'forgotten' foods at the core of the Farmgate ethos, and forming a visible link between the menu and the wonderful array of produce downstairs.
