The Monastery Inn takes its name from the 6th Century monastery and school founded in Clonard by St Finnian. The monastic theme also finds its way onto the menus, the breakfast menu has a Bishops Breakfast, lunch includes everything from Chicken A La High King to Friars Beef Stir Fry and the evening has Salmon Of Knowledge. Steaks are a speciality accompanied by our very own Home Cut Chunky Chips. The Sunday menu suits families with traditional favourites such as roast beef or bacon or you can choose from the a la carte menu. The wine menu is very reasonably priced and offers a worldwide selection of award winning wines.
The Monastery Inn offers traditional ambience complete with open fire and the restaurant has a gallery section with many pictures representing carefully researched local and monastic history. Interested visitors can take with them a little book of local history. There is a large car park, large enclosed beer garden that is safe for children and a baby change facility. The Monastery Inn is regularly hired from 9.30 pm in the evening for private functions, music and food can be arranged.
